We often have large spreadsheets that we work on and want to note when we made an entry or the last time the data in a worksheet was saved. One way to do that is with the function =NOW. This will enter the date and time the function is entered. However, just like =TODAY, every time the sheet is recalculated or closed and opened, the =NOW function will update. Therefore, once entered, covert it to its value using Paste Special – Values. See my post here http://goo.gl/ZveUN.

You can format it from the 24 hour format to any other time/date related format by right-clicking on the cell and choosing Format cells. I’ve chosen to use a custom format and added AM/PM to the m/d/yyyy h:mm format:
I hope this helps.
